Through a poll, the attached theme was chosen, officially launching the 'Choose the piece' initiative; the workshop is open to anyone who wants to try their hand at it.
Those participating must send me their works by 16/03/2015; these will be published in the form of a poll, a tool that will allow the community to express their preference within a period of 15 calendar days.
Each vote received from forum members will be worth 0.3 points; composers participating in the initiative will be entitled to an additional vote.
During the polling period, composers must send me a list indicating their top 3 favorite pieces (excluding their own):
- to the first piece indicated by them, 7 points will be attributed
- to the second piece indicated by them, 5 points will be attributed
- to the third piece indicated by them, 3 points will be attributed
The piece that earns the most points by March 31, 2015, will be entitled to the prize.

"Every vote received from forum members will be worth 0.3 points"
This is clear: every forum member, by voting for one of the submitted works, will entitle the composer who wrote the work to receive 0.3 points.
"composers participating in the initiative will be entitled to an additional vote."
Additional vote in what sense? Sorry if the question might seem stupid, but even though I have thought of some hypotheses, it's better to have an explanation that eliminates doubts and interpretations.

As explained in the "Choose the piece" initiative, those participating in the workshop as composers have a different weight in the voting. If you participate in the workshop, you will send me your own preference list of the top 3 pieces that you believe satisfy you; the first will receive 7 points, and so on. The sum of the points assigned by the composers and by the popular jury will decide which piece will deserve the prize.
It must be considered that on average 4 or 5 pieces arrive in the workshop... if I had to guess and at least 30 users voted for the theme, both participants and the public have equal standing.
In any case, it is the first "test"; if something does not go as planned, the weights can be rectified (see the next edition dedicated to the fugue).
If the doubts were more specific, I ask you to make them explicit
The first part is easy: in the bass it goes A E F# B E ...

In the second measure, for example, the double C# + an appoggiatura, so apart from the initial I, it passes through the area of the II and V of the second measure to then arrive at a I with appoggiaturas of measure 2... then a great expansion of the fifth degree framed by a lot of appoggiaturas and a tonicization.
The double # is clearly placed to create the ascending chromaticism.
I have played it several times and I must say a terrible doubt has occurred to me: what if the true theme of the first two measures is the lower note of the right hand, which then transfers to the upper part?
sPerhaps it's because I love parts that exchange the theme; I almost always include it in my compositions, especially for choir, but I don't dislike it.
Given the harmonic complexity, and considering the prompt provided by RStrauss, it wouldn't be a bad idea to extract the most significant melodic parts and reharmonize them by devising one's own theme ... then carry it forward
I started writing the piece. I didn't think I would manage it due to time constraints... I must say it is a beautiful theme, an excellent choice for whoever voted for it. It also seems quite challenging to me. This is also material that tends to make one a "slave"
I have sketched out two bars but I am not sure if I will manage to write it, I am concentrating on other pieces. But as you say Frank, it is a beautiful theme and lends itself to various solutions.
