Music competition for young musicians aged 16 to 30. The prize includes a concert as a main artist at the VI edition of Jazz by the Pool and other tour dates and festivals, a workshop at Chieti in Jazz, and a workshop at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Following the success of last year's Jazz by the Pool Competition I Edition, Jazz by the Pool—the summer jazz concert series held poolside that animates several evenings at the Piscine Preistoriche in Montegrotto Terme (PD)—renews its proposal for emerging young musicians with its V edition and launches the second edition of the international competition for new talents in the world of jazz.
The competition, which has an international scope, is reserved for new talents—soloists, singers, composers, and groups—between the ages of 16 and 30. Participants can compete with jazz music pieces or stylistically related genres by registering in one of the three competing categories: Band, Composers, and Soloists.
Registration and participation in the competition are completely free and take place via a request sent by mail or e-mail no later than June 1, 2013, accompanied by 2 musical pieces performed by the participants.
The first selection will be made based on listening to the submitted tracks. At its absolute discretion, the jury will select 6 candidates who will perform opening concerts lasting 30 minutes for six evenings of the Jazz by the Pool festival. The evaluation parameters will be technical preparation, the chosen repertoire, and the demonstrated artistic and stage maturity.
The winners will receive the following prizes: the Hotel Terme Preistoriche Prize, which will allow them to participate in the VI edition of Jazz by the Pool as a main artist and to perform at other tour dates and festivals. Additionally, a dedicated interview will be published on major industry webzines. The Jazz by the Pool Prize will be awarded to two candidates, each of whom can participate in one of the following seminars: an arrangement and composition workshop at Chieti in Jazz organized by SIDMA (SocietĂ Italiana di Musicologia Afroamericana) or a two-week workshop at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Finally, a FAI-Villa Vescovi Special Prize will be awarded.
Jazz by the Pool Competition is organized by Terme Preistoriche srl, in collaboration with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Veneto Jazz, SIDMA (SocietĂ Italiana di Musicologia Afroamericana), and FAI-Villa Vescovi.
