Hello everyone,
I would like to purchase an upright piano for my son, who is 10 years old and very promising. We live in Sicily and our budget is €5,000.
Reading on your website (by the way, compliments!), I understood that we do not need a silent system and that with this budget we are destined for an entry-level instrument.
Could you please give me some advice?

A new one for €5000 is unlikely to be something you can afford unless you aim for a Chinese piano. If I were you, I would aim for a good refurbished used Yamaha, perhaps a U3; if you buy it from a dealer, you can always count on a minimum warranty and they usually deliver it to your home tuned. With an expense of about €4000, sometimes even less, you can take home a beautiful piano. You could also get a bargain from a private seller, but at that point you would need a competent person who knows how to judge the instrument, and you would have to add the cost of transport to the price of the piano (Don't think about carrying it home with a makeshift vehicle and the help of friends). I started a search on the internet and from retailers near my house I found some deals and two new ones. Probably the new ones will be inferior, as you pointed out to me....

Too much choice!!!!! One would need to see. anyway Giovanni's indications are correct. Watch out for refurbishments and especially for shaved hammers!!!!

Hi Paolo, thanks for the reply.
In the end, after careful checks, I bought a U3H (refurbished Yamaha) from an official Yamaha dealer with warranty and documentation.
Serial number almost 3,000,000 which I verified with Yamaha, and they confirmed the entire history of the instrument, including its shipment to the dealer.
The hammers all have marks from the strings, what do you think? In a few days I am expecting the tuner, do you have any recommendations for me?
