i own a hercules 16/12 fw audio interface... a bit outdated, actually, but for what I need, it's more than enough. i've always used it with my mac. then i wanted to update the operating system (now i have OS X 10.8.2) and now the interface is no longer recognized. i've been told
that it might be a driver issue, but on the hercules website, the most recent drivers are those related to the previous OS X operating system. what should i do?
in the worst case scenario, if I were forced to buy another one, would you recommend any models?
keep in mind that I don't do high-level home recording, nor would I be capable of it or interested in doing so.
i use it for simple home recordings, at most to record rehearsals with my jazz quartet,
and for the ensemble of instruments that I had my students at school build. I don't know much about it, but it seems to me that I have listed 3 different situations. therefore, I believe I need an interface with a good number of inputs.
In the absence of drivers, I would try to resolve it by making a double partition: one with Snow Leopard and one with Lion/Mountain Lion, and I would use the Hercules under 10.6.8, or obviously change the card.
As for me, as long as everything works, I'm staying with Snow.

Same here! I tried Lion right when it came out and it gave me a lot of compatibility problems, many even with Logic, and I went back immediately. It is also true that it had just come out, but as Zedef says, as long as everything works for me, I'm staying with Snow Leopard too.
