hello everyone,
a few days ago, I was browsing at Feltrinelli and, in the music section, I came across 2 texts that I always believed were published and available in English.... while these were (are) wonderfully in Italian. they are two books by mark levine:
"THE JAZZ PIANO BOOK"
"JAZZ THEORY"
before I slip up and buy them, could you please briefly review them for me?

I purchased "THE JAZZ PIANO BOOK" a few years ago, I am still studying it and I find it extremely useful for the study of jazz harmony.
I found Leo Ravera's introduction/review very useful.

You did well ScalaQuaranta, there is a lot of excitement also about these texts (in Italian) by Pino Jodice that have just been released

Between the two, if you are a pianist, I would opt for the Jazz Piano Book. It seems better made to me and many things are repeated in the two texts.

I would like to inform you that the texts you are talking about deal with tonal type jazz harmony. Contemporary jazz is almost all modal. It is nonetheless useful, before moving on to modal, to have a full knowledge of tonal.
