Musical experiences, whether listening and performing, educational or otherwise, form the idea of topicality.
Therefore, what was once intended as the avant-garde now travels on orbits that ultimately intend to neglect it.
The complexity of music is spreading through recent high-altitude productions, perhaps particularly in ensemble music. Simplicity is understood in a vertical way, expressive up to an altitude, rarefied beyond.

An attempt at classifying dissonance was already made a century ago by Schoenberg... I don't think that consonance or dissonance in themselves can be a driver for the listener.

Harmony is a parameter that over the last 70 years has become a given of musical language; there has been a significant shift towards timbre and the use of a broader sonic universe. Of course, in entertainment music, the "leading tone continues to rise" and "the seventh continues to fall."
