Dear pianoconcerto forum members residing in Rome and the surrounding areas,
forgive my audacity... I am just a poor amateur who does what he can in music, but has a great passion for composition. So, I'll get to the point: I have enrolled my son (12 and a half years old, with almost 3 years of cello study under his belt) in a competition that will take place over the coming weekends in Rome, specifically at Via Calamide 57 (Casalpalocco area - Canale della Lingua). The auditions for cellos will be held on SATURDAY, MAY 19th starting from 2:30 PM. This is not his first experience, as he already participated in a competition in Puglia last year (and we had the chance to listen to some very talented kids!). Well, the reason I am bringing this event to your attention is as follows: we will perform together a sonatina for cello and piano that I wrote for him last year. It is a simple piece, in a classical style, in which I attempted to achieve something musically pleasing without being able to rely (obviously) on advanced technical skills. If you feel like taking a little trip to the outskirts (the place is not far from Ostia), you are free to attend, so perhaps I can meet other forum members in person (yesterday at the conference in Albano I met two... very important ones!). My son is first on the list, so we will be finished in 10-12 minutes.
