hi everyone!
his damn operating system (Catalina) is causing me a mountain of headaches! I should be working on an audio track for some cutting & sewing operations, a task I know how to do and have learned to do (mechanically) for several years now, without problems. Just tonight (after downloading the very latest Catalina updates this morning) I loaded the track to be modified into Logic.... and when playing it back, I hear it enormously sped up, like fast-forward or almost. I tried loading several other audio files... and the result is always the same. How can I fix this, in your opinion?

Listening to it, it seems to me to be a problem between the file's sampling rate and the project's sampling rate. Try checking the audio configuration. Alternatively, convert the file to AIFF and re-import it. In AIFF, tempo information is maintained. Let me know.
