It is a matter of regulation: there is a proportion between the key dip - hammer-string distance - escapement point. If the supports have also been touched, those too affect the general regulation. What piano is it? Has the action been rasped? Let me know

the piano is a RONISCH semi-grand serial number 11240
the hammers are intact, not shaved, depth 4.4 escapement approx 2, 2 in the central section.
some hammers, after touching the string, bounce back and do not rest on the capstan.
What should I work on?

But how can it work with a key dip of 4.4 (if I understood correctly)????!!!!!!! I have at least 10mm dip. hammer-to-string distance 45mm. But you also have to check the let-off regulation. Escapement at 12-15 mm from the string. Low notes escapement 2 mm and let-off 2mm. Mid and high notes 1.5 with let-off 1 mm. Also check that the repetition springs are not too lively. The pins must have the right friction and the hammer, after releasing the escapement, must return up with a clean movement, even with unstressed springs!

It doesn't seem like a feasible hypothesis to me. anyway, if the hammer bounces, it means the stroke of the escapement lever is not completed. . However, the depth could be insufficient. (send photos of the beginning and end of the stroke. Or a video)

I corrected my previous post because I didn't remember that it was an upright piano. I confirm the standard measurements with which the piano should function: Hammer-to-string distance 45-46mm. Escapement point 1-2-3mm from the string (depending on whether the practice pedal is engaged). Let-off approximately 12-15mm. White key dip 10-10.5 mm; black keys such that, when the hammer regulates are adjusted, they result in being aligned.
