Amidst the madness of the mixer, there couldn't be a lack of madness from a good tube condenser microphone as well. I am talking about the CAD Trion 8000. I don't know how many of you are familiar with it; the cost is around 500 euros, which isn't much for a tube mic, and it is an exceptional microphone. It adapts well to all situations, from vocals to recording acoustic instruments. For now, I have bought one, but I am curious and hesitating about getting a second one to record the piano. It probably won't suit all pianos since the tube colors the sound a little bit, but for particularly dull and sharp-sounding pianos, it might be interesting to consider using a tube mic. We shall see...
It has three selectable polar patterns (cardioid, omni, figure 8). I can't tell you more because I don't have it in my hands yet; it will probably arrive along with the mixer. For now, I leave you with this video recorded entirely in multitrack using only the CAD Trion 8000.
PS. But why don't we get some people together to make a nice CD, even with things like this (maybe even better)... A nice piano concerto CD. Come on, registrations are open to join the band.
Waaa gladly!! In the past, with some of my friends, I did something with two guitars, a bongo, and vocals. Obviously everything was "arranged" in a makeshift way, from the recording (we used a cell phone) to what we played, but we had so much fun
