hello everyone,

i have a musical backing track in .mp3 format, key of D# (it is the backing track for a Christmas song) and I would need to transpose it to A# (to adapt it to the range of my first-year middle school students). I know that with Logic it can be done

since I used to do it a few years ago; naturally now I have forgotten the procedure! ;-S

could someone from the forum give me some tips regarding this?

You should use the Logic Tools, from the Varispeed menu change the following 2 settings:

- Speed + Pitch

- Detune(semitones.cents)

In the Varispeed window, choose the transposition

See second image

Select the track to define a bounce zone.

Do the bounce (regular because in-place doesn't work) and the track out

Import the track for the same song and close Varispeed.

Flex-enable the track, probably using polyphonic mode with the Complex box activated

There are other ways to do it, but in Logic IME, this gives you the best sound quality with at least a shift of 4 semitones. And naturally there are third-party plug-ins like iZotope Radius that do a great job with pitch shifting.
