I want to clarify that I am not an expert in the field of pianos and what I write might be complete nonsense, but I will try....So, I have an upright piano (of unknown brand and certainly not of great value) that has completely ruined mechanics and soundboard....they are damaged due to neglect and time, as well as unfortunately by woodworms because it was kept for years in an unsuitable place, shall we say....This piano was recovered by me and my wife (she is very attached to the instrument because she played it as a child with her grandparents and is very emotionally connected to it) and we had an anti-woodworm treatment done that lasted several months, so now we are 100% certain that there are no more.
Now...I would like to give this instrument a new life and I am asking you if, in your opinion, it would be possible to completely replace the mechanics of the instrument with new mechanics, in plain words keeping only the shell (which has inestimable value as a memory for my wife) and giving it a new soundpost so that it can return to being the instrument it is meant to be....a piano, even if not a collector's piano but a piano that can be played to learn and to teach our little girl to play in the future (if she ever wants to).
