In the Paragone delle arti, Leonardo da Vinci defines music as "figuration of the invisible", a phrase that strongly recalls Klee's exhortation on the tasks of modern art, "... do not render the visible, but make visible...".

I would like to have the fortune, the grace, to be able to figure that invisible of which Leonardo speaks, to access the "terra incognita" of which George Steiner speaks.

In this sense, Studio Quarto continues a profound revision of my catalogue, which aspires to a greater essentiality.

The piece is built on a cycle of measures repeated slowly, an ostinato that alternates aura and resonance, announcement and memory.

Alessandro Melchiorre

"... it is equally fatal to have a system and not to have one...

one must try to combine both..."

Friedrich Schlegel
