Cracked soundboard

Hi, I wanted to ask for some information: if a soundboard is cracked, can it be repaired? The tuner told me that the crack must be widened, wood inserted inside, and then a joint inserted. Finally, varnish everything.

Do you consider this to be a valid method? Thanks
