Italy won't be Finland, but it seems to me that there are flourishing realities even in Italy.
where?
i would very much like a reality like this Finnish one, but I often notice with regret that the musicians themselves act snobbish and fuel an elitist and unhealthy "culture" based on the judgment of more or less virtuoso technicality, as if the performer were to be more of a phenomenon....(a sideshow attraction?) and not simply the medium for an immense good such as music. I have often happened to invite other musicians to local concerts (of local musicians), who responded to me that it wasn't worth going because they weren't notable pianists.....
The glass half full or half empty, the classic bifocal point of view. In my opinion, halls are emptying for various reasons, and much of it lies in the fact that the problems of "living" have increased immeasurably. Music, painting, theater, poetry... they are children of leisure, pleasure, and the reflection of calm and rational souls who decide with clarity and composure to go to that concert for this reason or to purchase this little volume etc etc.. I used to read a lot and had a much more flourishing inner artistic life as a young man; now my stifled enthusiasm is perhaps double compared to that era, and both interest and means have increased compared to then, but... life is much denser with commitments, problems, etc etc... Furthermore, linked to these factors, we find the profound disappointment of all artists regarding the conduct of markets, industrial business etc etc... I would say an infinite discussion... furthermore, the quality and capacity for judgment of certain new generations have dropped significantly, children of pre-packaged bundles where success and fame are passed off instead of culture and faith.
I am, however, one of those who sees in empty places a challenge to shift the meaning of art and especially the: "Rediscovery of art" not only as a phantasmagoric and fun creative medium but as a profound awareness of being active individuals in a deep, as well as exciting and living, search for "transmitting," "saying," or telling what has been understood about ourselves and the world. I see planted in the very substance of art the seed of philanthropy and love for creation, a love that goes beyond the individual author of the work, without a beginning and without an end, but enveloped by the matter of things. Perhaps it is precisely the premonition of not finding men ready to tell us something or to teach us something; together with all the other problems inherent to this "DRAMATIC HISTORICAL PERIOD," creating the void in these places... what do you all think?
