Does anyone know if Horowitz composed? I heard mention of some Variations on Carmen, but I didn't quite grasp the subject.

As far as I know there are some of his transcriptions, it's just that they are too suited to his style of playing, so in the hands of others they do not do them justice

Horowitz's transcriptions don't all blow me away in the same way; "Carmen" is among those I don't like at all (too "vulgar"), I find "Pictures" more appropriate
