In short:
I am 70 years old, I obtained my V diploma in piano at age 18; since then I stopped playing because I realized I was mediocre. I started playing again 4 years ago, because I have classical music in my head and in my heart.
Living in an apartment building, to avoid disturbing others, I purchased (or perhaps they foisted upon me) a Yamaha CLP 230.
After 4 years, it no longer satisfies me (in the sound of the piano, the harpsichord a bit better, and the church organ - for baroque music -; as well as in the touch of the keyboard). Although aware that I cannot match a real acoustic piano or a harpsichord, I have decided to purchase a new instrument.
Advice from retailers........ too interested [in selling].
I have tried silent pianos (both Yamaha and Kawai), but the sound (of an upright piano, in my opinion, not excellent) does not please me; it is cold and the keyboard is.... hard.
Even the tones of the Yamaha CLP 330 do not make me dream.
I also tried the Kawai CA 65 and CA 95; the tones seemed superior to me and also the keyboard, well-weighted and decently soft (usually I do not press heavily on the keys).
I have excluded the Yamaha new Avant Gard series with that keyboard action similar to grand pianos, because the cost seems excessive in relation to the performance.
Am I choosing poorly if I stick with Kawai? I am looking for advice also because, as the great Frank Sinatra used to sing, "my days are short.."
