Difficulties studying Carl Czerny

I 50 credo dell'op. 740, a parer mio, sono i più belli e i più efficaci. Alcuni sono dei veri e propri pezzi da eseguire con soddisfazione sia di chi suona che di chi ascolta.

I agree with Paolo, Op. 740 provides a certain type of satisfaction ...although I still prefer Cramer or Heller's Op. 45.

Regarding Czerny, I wouldn't underestimate Op. 335 and 299 either, which are a bit below Op. 740 ... all roughly around the old-style fifth piano level.

Great Czerny!!! I learned a lot in these studies.

For me, the absolute most difficult opus is 400; they are 12 preludes and fugues (especially the fugues) on the verge of a nightmare, if played at the tempos described by Czerny, and not just at that speed.

Immediately following are 365 and the grandiose, as well as decidedly pleasant and concert-worthy, opus 692 (24 Grandes Etudes Caracteristiques) and 756 (25 Grandes Etudes de Salon).

Even opus 822 (Nouveau Gradus ad Parnassum) should not be underestimated, both in terms of content and difficulty.
