Hi! I would like to purchase a digital piano (at the moment I only have a 61-key Casio keyboard with non-weighted keys) and I don't know which brand and model to choose! (within a budget of ā¬1600 maximum)
I have heard that among the best are the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-430, Kawai CA13, and Kawai CN43. I would like the sound and the key action to be as similar as possible to those of an acoustic piano: what do you recommend?

Clavinovas are great ... but no one will properly simulate a real action and no one will allow you to build a beautiful sound since it will be pre-packaged... but if you have other needs (space, annoying neighbors, absurd hours)... it is one of the compromises:)

yes, indeed a digital piano will never reach the level of an acoustic one... the only small difficulty would be space, but I don't think the hours and the neighbors constitute a big problem.

Personally, I love Kawai digitals very much... The CA is an excellent instrument, especially regarding the keyboard and action. If you then want to ensure you don't have a 'packaged' sound, you must opt to use a PC with a MIDI interface and a VST like Pianoteq or similar physical models in which you can choose every single physical characteristic (piano length, hammer felting, acoustic characteristics of the room, etc., etc.). As I have already said in other posts, I still prefer "packaged=sampled" sounds, but it is just my point of view, whether shareable or not...
