Dino Ciani speak & plays Chopin Nocturne op 9 n 1

He was a Great One. I had the fortune of hearing him live shortly before his tragic passing. Many say that he was sometimes too "fallible." I own a 33 rpm record made by a friend at Dino's house. He plays all of Chopin's studies. Wonderful. Many mistakes, but wonderful. In the digital era, everything is perfectible and we are used to listening through headphones to an almost perfect performance. Live performance is very far from what can be achieved in the studio, and therefore we are disturbed by errors and uncertainties that can be heard in a concert. I prefer a "no-holds-barred" interpretation and a few wrong notes. Never more than today must it "be worth it" to leave the house to go listen to Music. Something interesting, a living idea that the Musician presents live! Trying to satisfy the "error seekers" is not enough. One must take risks, and Ciani, Cortot, even Rubinstein were of this idea. One must leave the concert hall, not remembering the errors, but still with the enthusiasm and warmth that the musician knew how to infuse with their language. Leaving "infected" inevitably by the Music just heard.
