Good evening, I own an Essex grand piano, and it has a problem that is making me uneasy; every time I press the right pedal, the sustain, it emits a noise like a hum. I have the impression that what is happening is that by lowering the dampers, the pedal causes all the strings to vibrate, producing this unpleasant noise that I hear EVERY TIME I lift and lower the pedal. Is this normal??? The dealer claims it is; what do you say?
Well... there is a little bit.. so much so that on some digital pianos the release of the dampers is reproduced!!! On the grand, especially on some, the pedal must be "changed" more slowly than on the upright. With the sostenuto pedal, the problem should not exist.
