Good morning everyone, I am 50 years old and I started studying piano at 11. It's a pity that at 14 I decided to stop, satisfied with my promotion in the theory and solfeggio exam, but demoralized by being denied admission to the Conservatory by a hair (ranked 7th out of 60 with 6 places available).
My cultural and academic training took other paths, yet leaving my passion for music unchanged, although experienced only passively as an omnivorous listener of any genre, with a preference for music from the pre-Romantic and Romantic European piano repertoire.
About 3 years ago, a bad road accident forced me into a long period of convalescence and, subsequently, to adopt a lifestyle less exposed to the risk of physical trauma.
It was then that my lifelong passion made itself felt more strongly, inducing me to resume from where I had stopped over 30 years ago (!!!!), but with a determination now much stronger than that of an insecure adolescent.
I bought myself a grand piano and have resumed studying assiduously (I take private lessons and practice every day for two to three hours). I am preparing the exam program for the Compimento Inferiore, hoping to find a Conservatory that opens a "window" reserved for those who wish to take exams under the Old System (in this regard, if anyone can give me some information, I would be infinitely grateful).
As I wrote in the discussion title, every cloud has a silver lining; on the contrary, my life experiences have strengthened my will to continue, perhaps going all the way to the end - provided that the (old) system and the infinite patience and endurance of my partner allow it.
