A propos, I am attaching images of the respective mechanisms according to their evolution. In essence, what has changed between Erard's first double escapement, the Renner, and modern mechanisms? In this regard, I have heard talk of a high center of gravity in early mechanisms.
The novelty lies essentially in the repetition lever that creates the sensation of "double escapement." The lever, supported by the spring, allows the repetition lever to reposition itself under the roller even before the key has returned to its initial resting position. This results in speed in repeating on the same key and rapid reaction from the entire transmission mechanism.
P.S. It is evident that as the center of gravity of the mechanism rises, the return weight also increases, which makes the mechanism very responsive. However, it is advisable not to increase the overall weight of the mechanism too much by attempting to balance, for example, a very heavy hammer rail. This would instead result in making the mechanism itself slower and less responsive.
