Farewell to Karlheinz Boehm, the Franz of "Sissi"

Known to the general public in the role of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph, in the mid-seventies he worked with Rainer Werner Fassbinder in some films: Martha, Effie Briest, The Merchant of Four Seasons.

As always, everything is relative in this world, unfortunately.

You are surprised - and rightly so! - by the fact that conductor Boehm is considered "an orchestra conductor," but one might also wonder, today, forty years later, who knows - or remembers - the cinema of the great Warner Fassbinder - who passed away far too prematurely, alas - and if his films have descended into a disastrous oblivion!?!?

And already!... Everything is relative.

I remember that when Lawyer Prisco died (Inter's number 1 fan), they held the funeral one weekday morning in the church of Santa Maria della Passione which, here in Milan, is adjacent to the Conservatory and all the related hustle and bustle of students.

Coincidentally, I happened to be passing by right when the coffin was being carried into the church accompanied by banners from various associations, the Municipality of Milan, Inter...

I only stopped for two minutes to observe, but it was enough to catch this dialogue between two boys near me:

"It's a funeral, but what's with all these people?"

"Dunno... sounds like some big shot in football died, haven't you heard anything these past few days?"

"Don't ask me: as for football... I'm an ox."

"Whatever... Listen: what time did you say we could meet with the new cellist to rehearse?" . . . .

I, on the other hand, looking at the article reported by Valkiria, am surprised that whoever wrote that article for 'la Repubblica' doesn't know what a diaeresis (or Umlaut, or "the two dots") is !!!

It would have been enough to copy/paste from Wikipedia to write Böhm correctly

Good grief!... it's not some SMS in the style of 'cuz', 'u kno', 'anyway', 'idk'... from 'la Repubblica' I expect a bit of orthographic taste.
