Good day to everyone! I own a 160 cm Petrof baby grand piano, which belonged to my father, and which unfortunately no one plays anymore.
Precisely because of this, I noticed that some keys are stuck due to the fact that the weights have oxidized and are causing friction between the keys. Some time ago I had the same problem, and a tuner filed them down (the weights, not the keys ;-) ). I would like to repeat the same operation myself. I have disassembled the action and removed it, but how should I proceed to be able to work on the side of the keys? Do I need to unscrew the small bolts that hold the rod that locks them from above in place? Or is there a simpler system?
You must disassemble the "castelletto" (action frame) that rests on the keyboard support frame. I mean the castelletto that carries the hammers and the levers. Only then will you be able to access the keys freely and be able to file down the uncomfortable oxidation. You will then have to reassemble everything and adjust it. Anyway, why did the problem reappear? The best thing would be to rebalance the entire mechanism with new lead weights.

I solved it in a simpler way, using a thin cutter and cutting away the excess lead between one key and the next, obviously being careful. Now the keys are free.
Of course, the instrument would need a general tuning/regulation. But, more than anything, it would need to be played.
