Good evening guys, in the layout of a complicated contemporary score for 4 accordions by a friend, I have another problem:
due to requirements related to writing clarity in sections with many groups of acciaccaturas and figurations written across the two staves of each single accordion, it would be very convenient for me to be able to make the note stems and rests disappear, but only in certain measures.
Unfortunately, if I take the "staff" tool and select a single measure, click on it, open the "Staff Attributes" window and uncheck "rests" and "stems" under "elements to display", Finale removes them from the entire staff from the beginning to the end of the piece.
Is there really no way to do it only in the single measure that I select?

Unfortunately, there are only convenient "integral" solutions, so in particular cases you can....
- For rests, after selecting it, press "h" on the keyboard (which stands for hide, from English, nascondi): they will turn light gray and you will no longer see them during printing
- For note stems, you can shorten them with Tools, advanced tools, special tools, stem length. Shorten them as needed

Marzapane, the first tip is excellent; I tried it and in my case this happens: I use Finale 2009 on an iMac, if I take the selection tool arrow and select the rests, pressing H does nothing. I also tried combining control, alternate, shift, nothing; I was starting to despair, but then I opened the rests window, selected a rest identical to the one I wanted to remove, clicked on it as if to rewrite it with speedy entry and it became selected; at that point, by pressing just the "H" key, it disappeared.
Purtroppo per i gambi devo trovare il modo di toglierli proprio, se infatti ho a che fare con crome, semicrome, ecc., anche se accorcio il gambo fino a farlo sparire rimane sempre visibile il trattino, singolo, doppio o triplo che indica l'ottavo, il sedicesimo, il trentaduesimo. Ho provato a usare la tattica dell'altro caso, ma se prendo gli strumenti speciali e seleziono la nota per accorciarle il gambo, non è che a quel punto se schiaccio H mi fa sparire il gambo, non succede nulla.
Grazie comunque, mi hai dato un aiuto importantissimo.
The classic example where the playback will not go well with the graphic part. You have touched a sore spot, you can only expand the duration of the measure, for example: if you are in 2/4 and you have 8 sixteenth notes, you can make an 8/4 measure and transform the sixteenth notes into quarters... so you are just left with the stems... which you can shorten as Marzapane explained to you.
When you change the indication, choose in the options not to display the time signature change, otherwise you will see the change from 2/4 to 8/4.
Another little trick is to use more measures and hide the bar lines
