I managed to get Finale 2011 after 2009 and I find myself facing a small mystery: when I open a file created with 2009 using the 2011 version, I go to file/export audio file and to save it, it gives me the option to decide if I want it in mp3 format.
When I open another more recent file, created with 2011, and if I want to export the audio file, it only gives me the wav and aiff options; I can't make an mp3 (and thus I can't make a CD to listen to in the car...) Is this normal? Can anyone help me?

Exactly, you can only export in the listed formats... you should get a wav to mp3 converter, there are many free ones
If I'm not mistaken, saving in mp3 format is only possible if you are working with SmartSynths (or MIDI sounds); if you are using Aria Player, you only have WAV and AIFF.
Otherwise, as suggested, see third-party solutions ... like Audacity for example

Valuable advice for sure guys, I am using an iMac and the Garritan sound library, I will look for a converter. I didn't believe I had problems with wav either, but my car stereo (Mitsubishi) won't read it, unless the fact that I loaded both wav and aiff on the cd doesn't bother it... The car stereo reads wav/aiff files only if you master the cd as an audio cd; if it is data (like for those with mp3s), it definitely won't read them
