Hello, I noticed that on my old upright piano the felt of the hammer heads in the middle register notes is very worn and in some cases totally worn out, while the part where the escapement acts is in good condition.
I would like to know what defects this might cause, given that the hammers, apparently, are still performing their function well.

Everything is certainly a bit worn out. Even the green felts of the repetitions will be hardened; the hammer heads might struggle to "grip / from the French term attrape" in the repetition. They should be replaced, as should all the skins and felts of the action.
After so much time, it is necessary to check all the action pins and the keyboard bushings.
The hammer rail, even if it hasn't been shaved over the years, will certainly be hardened and no longer capable of striking the strings with a certain differentiated elasticity to ensure that many harmonics are favorably generated,
