What can you tell me about the genesis of Beethoven's second symphony?
If I understood correctly, after the criticism received for the first (even Haydn took it and left almost immediately), Beethoven tried to be the "good boy"... fortunately, it seems to me that it only lasted a few bars, and after the first 4 there are already those signs of the Beethoven we know.
even after the first 4, there are those signs of Beethoven that we know.
What do you think?
I must say that lately I am rediscovering Beethoven's early symphonies, especially for that rhythmic richness that characterizes his maturity but which is clearly evident even in his more youthful works. The rhythmic solutions of this symphony are truly interesting.
