I don't know the opera but the prelude is indicated by Tenore as fantastic...Verdi, as expected, has once again shown himself to be a great artist,

I have seen the first two acts and it seemed like a deadly bore to me :-) I must admit... even the prelude didn't leave much with me, there are things within it that I really don't like, it is all very sappy, at times it reminds me of the one from Macbeth but with less sobriety.

Do you have other pieces "on hand"? I haven't gotten to see any concertato, for example, but I believe there is at least one with the arrival of Pope Leo...

I liked it; I don't find flaws in being sappy and having analogies to another work. If that weren't the case, one would have to throw away half of all operas...
