Given the price

Of the Demos I've heard, I only like number 1 and number 5. By working on them a little bit, something good could be produced. The second one sounds really too thin. I feel the sound is too mediant. The problem with these libraries, I always feel it in the recording set, not in the process or the idea. Also because 31 velocity levels are a lot.

Listen to this one too... Tell me what you think. I have my own perspective, which I will tell you later after you have shared your impressions with me.

Yes, the first one also made a better impression on me; I've had this library for a long time (the samples are practically the same) and lately I managed to load it into Kontakt (I had the samples linked using the Exs24 extension), it doesn't sound bad but you have to work on it a bit, it isn't immediate actually. The Galaxy, which I tried some time ago, is better. The link to the one you wanted me to listen to, Simò, is missing.

Not bad sounds, I listened in particular to Bach's Giga, the Schumann piece and the Chopin one to have some "comparisons" with real pianos, but also with other software libraries: as a sound it seems a bit "similar" to Best Service's Galaxy.

They went overboard emphasizing the low frequencies in Bach's Giga though; on the contrary, a more truthful result would have been obtained, but it is clear that as a library it is well-made, even in terms of dynamics.

I should preface this by saying that I don't like this library. It is my personal opinion. Perhaps, and I say perhaps, even because the demos are perfectly DRY.

In any case, I don't know if you saw that it weighs 430 GB. 8 microphones and sampling at 96kHz @ 24 bit.

I am of the opinion that it is useless to bring out 430 GB libraries; they are unusable unless you have exaggerated hardware, since in an orchestration context, once this library is loaded, you won't be able to load anything else because you have saturated everything, even the hard disk with the samples.

From my point of view, always personal, there are 4 GB libraries that sound divine. To me, honestly, this seems more like a commercial gimmick.

Given the gigabyte consumption and the mic options, I would have expected more. It doesn't seem bad, but even compared to the Galaxy, which I mentioned saying it reminds me of a bit, it still loses out. I had noticed that the gigs in the most complete package were huge, one would expect who knows what. The 8Dio Steinway is much better, at a lower price.

Even Vsl has released a piano library that doesn't convince me much.

What convinces you or what doesn't convince you? That "not so much" makes me opt for the second one...

Holy cow, I forgot to write "not", yes it's the second option, I heard it and (at least those few demos I listened to) it seems they used too much reverb; I'm basing this on memory, it's been years since I heard that library, and I had the impression that the library actually isn't worth the price it's sold at; now it seems a bit inferior to when it was launched (400 euros if I recall correctly, now it should be around 200). Then again, maybe listening to it now I might have a different impression, but at the time it hadn't convinced me.

Misremembered, it costs 495 euros and they even claim that each sample has 100 velocity layers, triple the library I have from Giga, The Big One. This is a demo in which the first movement of the Pathétique was performed:

There is also a demo that I hadn't seen or listened to yet; it was played, let's say, dry and with careful use of the sustain pedal, so it works better for getting an idea of the sound:

Re-listening to these demos with "decent" headphones (but I'm cursing because they are portable player headphones, anyway the classic walkman ones, well ex-walkman, which is why at least in the ones I am using now the mids/highs are emphasized) they don't seem bad, but VSL samples always need to be treated a bit because used as they are, they don't always seem up to their name.
