Good evening everyone, I am kindly asking if you can explain to me how to adjust the dampers of a grand piano when operating the right pedal, as I have noticed that they do not all rise at the same time; consequently, I removed the action and noticed that there are several pilots that need to be lowered. I tried turning them, but the damper mechanism moves, so I did not touch anything. Many thanks for your advice.

It is difficult to explain in writing. Anyway, the same pedal bar is used. The same one is raised until the damper levers touch at the desired height. The bar is locked with a shim. Then, the screws of the individual dampers are unscrewed one by one, letting them fall into contact with the bar without touching them. The screws are carefully tightened. While tightening the screws, the damper, due to the effect of the screw's torsion on the metal, might change alignment. Then, with pliers, the metal is gently turned until it sits precisely on the strings. It is not an easy job. It requires patience and expertise. It is better to consult a technician.
