Hello everyone, I clearly play the piano, but I began my approach to played music with the guitar, and I went all out for several years. In the meantime, to better understand musical structure and theory, I began studying the piano, always at an amateur level. Anyway, I have been applying myself to playing and learning for more than 45 years for the simple enjoyment of my soul.
I have studied and played a bit of everything, classical, jazz & blues, always choosing pieces within my reach; lately, I have been deepening my study of blues, but I have a couple of technical problems.
The most important one, for which I am asking advice, is the appropriate technique to execute the blues trill on a three-note or four-note chord, such as a dominant seventh, perhaps in an inversion with the seventh as the first note—a nice finger extension, so, well, I would like suggestions for some suitable exercises to achieve this objective; I invent some exercises myself, but they are not enough to reach the goal, i.e., fluidity.
The second technical problem for which I would like support is the correct fingering to use in pentatonic scales; I have a classical setting, Hanon-style to be understood, but when I watch American instructional videos, I see that they have a hand setting both in playing chords (voicing) and in phrasing that is different from mine; the use of the thumb is different, and I think that even the rhythmic accent in the phrasing is partly due to this.
I listen to all genres of music, from Indian to electronic, and I play a Yamaha upright C3 and a Roland FA08 synth, and I also do some digital music with the sequencer software Reason and Cubase.
