Hello everyone, I have just joined but I have been reading you for about a year. In fact, right in February of last year, at 41 years old, after encouraging my 8-year-old son to take up piano studies, I decided to try again myself. I started back up practically from scratch, also because I had only gone to music school for two years from age 14 to 16. I had stopped to the point that I played "Für Elise" poorly and I restarted from there, first with the precious help of this site, then with a teacher. In one year I have progressed much more than when I was 15: I have done 3 of the two-part inventions (1, 4, and 8), the prelude from Bach's first partita, the allemande from Partita No. 4, Mozart's K 545, and now I am studying the Rondo alla Turca and the English Suite in A minor. The performance level is, obviously, that of a beginner, but I have been taken by a passion so strong that I didn't think it was possible. Practically since last February I haven't watched TV in the evening anymore, which isn't bad, so I play about 2 or 3 hours every evening, except when I have some family commitments on the weekend. Currently, I play on a Kawai RX2 purchased this summer that I like very much (I spoke on the phone with the very kind Maestro Ferrarelli for a setup, the keyboard is direct) and, recently, after listening to an old Bachstein B203, I had a sort of love at first sight for this instrument with its soothing timbre and agile, light action. We will see if I decide to venture out; in any case, I would keep the Kawai.
