Hello everyone from Bologna! starting today, one more... in this fantastic place that is not a forum... but a gold mine!
the more I read, watch videos, and get to know Simone and Paolo, the more I realize how much there is to learn (...and to study!...)
Here I am,...self-taught (a bit regretful of not having studied as a child...but I believe one can always start) always magnetically attracted to the piano.
In a few weeks, I will be the owner of a little object that I didn't think they could ever invent...YAMAHA AVANT GRAND N2! I N C R E D I B L E !
The accomplices in all this? Paolo with his technical videos on the piano (tuning, voicing etc.) and Simone who inoculated me with the virus of music study (for which there is no vaccine!).
I am trying to sell my piano/guinea pig (poor thing...from... "I might as well try to tune it myself"...to "enough now!...moving on to the N2"); not that the tuning went badly eh!...even temperament with beat technique (fourths, fifths etc.), but the N2 sounds truly like a dream...and since I am a "sick person" for beautiful timbre, here is the decision!...then by trying it you also verify the touch and then....well...you're doing it on purpose!...this is called INSTIGATION TO PURCHASE! :-)
Anyway; I consider you benefactors! years of sacrifices to learn so much and then dispense it all with care online...but I understand the joy and pride in doing so...keep it up!
Thank you all... very kind! When I am allowed (shifts, baby, etc...) I "dive" into Poltronieri or Rossi lessons (sometimes Bona)... then down to exercises; scales, HANON... you know what...!? It is very strange to already have good agility since being self-taught from a very young age, but not yet having the ability to read, interpret, and perform from sheet music.
Anyway, it is beautiful to take advantage of the benefits of study (fingering, scales, etc).
Since initial exercises are often or always in scale, once I understand the first measure, the "self-taught" part of me comes out... and by instinct, I proceed by ear. Hey... then I check, eh!... don't worry!... I just need to familiarize myself with the score and the notes on it, which I imagine over time will be read/interpreted faster.
Never before like now have I looked forward to the new toy arriving...(you can use headphones until late) but if I don't sell the current piano... :-( (no space... no piano!).
In any case, I will not neglect my passion for singing, drums (those can definitely be played with headphones... it's digital... rubber pads etc), and pop music.
One should reach this maturity much sooner to understand the beauty of study and take advantage of the mental agility of the "best" years.
