Here I am to present my problem,
as I was saying in the introduction, I don't claim to perform major interventions, just small things.
I have a fairly old piano, H. Matz & Co. with bayonet action; in general, I can say it is in excellent condition except for the fact that the central keys are harder compared to those of the outer octaves. By removing the front panel and inspecting the action, I noticed that the keys in the rear part do not have the pilot pin that acts on the capstan, but rather there is a screw placed underneath a felt; it is precisely these felts that are worn out in the central part of the keyboard, and in some keys, the screw itself touches the base of the capstan because the felt is completely worn.
I would like to proceed with the replacement of these felts but I wouldn't know what type to purchase (it seems to me they have a wavy core inside), I would also like to know what technique to use to unglue the worn ones and what type of glue to use to glue the new ones. Once the keys are removed, I would also proceed with polishing the pins under the keys and the central ones, and perhaps I could also use some suitable lubricant.
