My name is Vera, I am 44 years old and I am a very amateur piano player. I took lessons from age 7 to 16 because I have always loved music and keyboard instruments in particular, then for various reasons I had to stop. I started practicing diligently again about three months ago and I hope to improve. ^^;
I have very varied tastes in music; practically the only genres I don't listen to at all are jazz, hip-hop, and Italian talent show pop. I have a certain predilection for ancient and modern German musicians and composers. I am not an expert in anything regarding music (my specialty is fine arts), so I think that more than anything I will read the discussions and occasionally ask for information.
Vera, you are a "well-rounded" artist. I also love the figurative arts and enjoy working with watercolor. I find many parallels between painting and Music... we will talk about it if you want. For now, Welcome!
Thanks! I also think there are quite a few similarities. Years ago, I developed my own bizarre system for matching colors based on an association between musical notes and colors in the color wheel. Vaguely arbitrary, if you will, but the result is to my liking.
I was a freelance illustrator and every now and then I slip up and do some painting exhibitions, but my current job is tattooing (which sometimes also gives considerable artistic satisfaction, especially when they let me have fun with shading).
I would like to see some of your watercolors sometime.
