Hello everyone, my name is Gianni, I am 55 years old and I am new to the forum.
Compliments on the setup and the video tutorials that allowed me to get to know you.
I have always loved music and I have both a baby grand piano and a digital piano at home.
I play out of passion and I have much to learn.
I studied privately with two teachers specializing in jazz, at different ages, alternating study with long periods of breaks, like the current one, but always playing.
I can say that every time I open the piano I feel a particular attraction to this wonderful instrument, for how it is built and for its mechanics which are capable of transforming a touch into a pleasant sound.
Precisely for this reason I followed the tuning video (which was done really well), not to replace the technician, but to be able to carry out those small adjustments necessary to maintain an acceptable sound.
After admiring the work of a technician I called to replace a string and seeing that shortly after it had loosened again, and not being able to have the technician's availability, I equipped myself with a tuning hammer, felts, etc., and I started trying to tune that note.
Furthermore, the piano is not located in a favorable position as it is near a window and therefore often requires a little adjustment.
That is why it is fundamental to know how to proceed to avoid certain errors that could damage the instrument, e.g., incorrect use of the hammer.....
I believe it is fundamental to know your own piano and I believe that thanks to you this is possible.
Ps) It is obvious that the tuner's intervention is already scheduled for next spring anyway.
