Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and immediately asking for help.
I found a very interesting grand piano in terms of price and especially model—meaning it is exactly what I am looking for, having already tried one while studying at my teacher's house, which was a Kawai KG2.
The owner told me that he bought it new in '82 and the serial number confirms this: 1312198; he also said his son used to play it, so it has always belonged to just one person and now no one uses it anymore, which is why they need to sell it.
The problem is that it is very far away (I am from the province of Venice and the piano is in the province of Foggia) and I have to go see it on Tuesday with a low-cost flight.
So, what I humbly ask you—since I cannot go with a technician and being new to pianos—is if you could give me some tips on what to check to see if the piano is okay; basically, where and what to look at and how to test it (keyboard, hammers, felts, or anything else that comes to mind).
I apologize in advance if I have opened a duplicate post, but I tried searching and couldn't find anything (maybe I am a bit slow).
I thank in advance anyone who wishes to help me.
Stefano, super passionate
saluti a tutti
