How could I have forgotten to open a section on the world of digital recording?? A serious mistake on my part, also because shortly I will be launching a video course on piano recording techniques, not just for grand pianos but also upright pianos, assuming I can find one in good condition. To do this course, I wanted to wait until I built my studio, but here between surveyors, permits, and above all my father who can't make up his mind, things are taking a very long time; therefore, in the meantime, we will give this little taste by examining only the piano. When the studio is no longer just on paper, we will have the opportunity to treat the topics properly and we will analyze the techniques for every acoustic instrument, reviewing the piano as well so that we can hear how things change when performing a recording in an acoustically treated space. We will then see how to apply effects appropriately to each instrument, what to watch out for during the capture phase, and we will talk about the final mixing (when we go to record all the instruments). For the moment, we will therefore focus on looking at all the recording processes and all the techniques aimed solely at capturing the piano.
