True, but consider this: in the theater there is a harpsichord, clearly a copy with a sign on it saying "do not lean, antique instrument!" when it is clearly a copy; you can even tell from the decoration, it is spray-painted (horrendous)

ah ah... ancient in the sense that it belongs to past models... ah ah. Spray painting? How have we come to this?

But I've seen more than one that looks spray-painted...

anyway, this thing about the sign «do not lean, antique instrument!» when it isn't, you can only find it in Italy.

We enjoy things more if they are old, ancient.... North of the Alps (but also in Bolzano and surroundings), if the plaster on a bell tower cracks even just a little bit, they repair it immediately so that the bell tower looks like it was made yesterday... here, the aesthetic of peeling plaster dominates, which "looks very historic center"

Only here in Italy could antiqued (or pseudo-antiqued) tiles find a market, meaning falsely old. Elsewhere, they don't have these problems.

In Dubrovnik, for example, looking down from above the circuit of the walls, one could clearly see which houses had been hit by a bomb and which ones hadn't: the former had impeccable roofs with splendid tiles... they will age too (in due time)
