If I am not mistaken, it is an orchestra tied to, if not funded by, the Province (and in fact, the president of the orchestra is the president of the Province), but at a time when the Provinces are about to be dismantled with the consequent reassignment of their competencies to other bodies, thinking that it will be funded by them is pure utopia. Then I would like to have a good debate on public funding.. I am against it; the State or whoever is responsible in the musical field should only fund schools (Conservatories first and foremost).

In my opinion, orchestras and theaters without subsidies will close ... okay regarding the investment in training, but it is right that every self-respecting state has - directly or indirectly - active orchestras and theaters.

I would be curious to have artistic information about this orchestra. It is not the first time it has been discussed on the forum, and from online searches, it doesn't even seem to be an active orchestra. I can't even understand if it has a headquarters, a concert hall, or something. On YouTube, there are many more videos related to the youth orchestra of the Tito Schipa Conservatory in Lecce.

When I think of a "provincial" orchestra, I think of the Haydn Orchestra of Trento and Bolzano. Well, the Haydn does nothing but play; it tours a lot and has an excellent level. Can I say that I have serious doubts that the closure of the ICO will not even minimally be a loss for the Italian cultural landscape?
