Dear friends, for two years I have carried out this project with great passion, dealing with the little time I had available and my financial constraints in an attempt to create a place that resembled a large family more than a classical music forum. With great regret, I realize that I have not succeeded in my intention, and I will try to provide my reasons as transparently as I can.

What I observe is a community that most of the time gives me so much to do, too much, because it does not limit itself to keeping me busy with maintenance but with solving problems determined by other factors. People who argue, who fight, who threaten lawsuits, trolls, spammers, and so on.

I have reached the point where I truly cannot bear this continuous pressure anymore, and despite having promised myself not to log in anymore in order to let things settle peacefully by avoiding responding to any argument, it was nonetheless useless because, inevitably, among 2000 brains, there are always those who clash. I have already sent an email to Paolo in which I ask him if he wants to take the reins of the forum; should he feel unable to do so for any reason, I would like to leave this site to someone who would take care of it, because honestly, I would be very sorry to throw 2 years of work into the trash.

Among the names I would like to take the reins are Frank, Sisifo, Armando, Thallo, and Piccinesco because, among everyone, they are those who have shown me affection and helped me steer the ship, even in a technical sense, all this time. I trust in you very much.

As far as the reason for my withdrawal is concerned, it seems very simple to me: I spent money to advertise the platform and keep it online, always offering a service free of any advertising, punctual, functional (there have never been prolonged service interruptions, at most 2 hours, even at the cost of staying up all night to resolve the problem by dawn), I was always available for everyone... What have I received in return? Always insults, threats, cease and desist letters on behalf of third parties.

It is time to end it, and so exhausted, I leave the place to those who have more passion, desire, or simply a different character than mine. Perhaps the problem might be me.

Consider that, beyond everything, taking over a forum that is already beautiful and populated is always a good investment, provided that it is taken to carry forward the same intentions for which it was created.

With great bitterness, I say goodbye to you all and thank you for the beautiful months spent together.

Ad maiora, one hopes...

Simone, don't leave, don't throw in the towel. Don't give reason or satisfaction to those who absolutely do not deserve it. Go straight on your path, which is the right one. It's true there are 2000 brains, but what is that compared to an entire population, and if you give up because of so few, it's not right. Your work is excellent, don't throw it to the wind. In here, there is a large majority that does not deserve it. Mow down the rot and continue on your path.

Don't give up.

With sincere affection and friendship!

Dear Simone,

I am truly sorry. I did not imagine this hateful background for you, who manages everything.

From my inexperience (naivety), it seems absurd and impossible to me.

But if you write these things, they are certainly true, and they have truly hurt you to lead you to consider this step.

I too would pull you by the sleeve, like Daniele, to tell you: don't give up! don't do it!

What did you receive in return? . . . . Those things that you write. Of course. Ugly and heavy things.

But alongside those, there are also many others that "cannot be seen," that are not known.

So let me tell you my gratitude - it must be worth something! - for having found a meeting place of people who love music.

A place of mutual exchange of thoughts, around topics that are close to my heart, and which is not at all easy to find in the narrow circle of my daily acquaintances.

And, as I tell my wife, this forum is making me experience a moment of enthusiasm [what a cold shower to know that for you, right now, it is quite the opposite!]

Enthusiasm because (as I said in a private message, I believe to Armando), I enjoy your polyphony of opinions, of voices. All different!

Thallo's, Frank's, Daniele's, Armando's, Carlos's, yours . . . . All different! And how beautiful it is that it is so.

Some "dissonant agreement" between us must come out every now and then... This too, in the end, leads to a truer exchange.

I am sorry to tell you these things only now.

But they are true things - that remain - . . . all the beautiful things I receive from the dialogue with you.

With sincere affection and friendship!

Aside from feeling sorry, I wouldn't let myself be influenced by a couple of hotheads... you always risk giving weight to the wrong percentage... will it be 2? Okay, 2 out of 2000, we are talking about 0.001%

Evidently it is the percentage that matters to you ... so it is right for you to make the choice you described. Unfortunately, I am in the wrong hemisphere... evidently I don't count...

the most important thing about this message is the support for TheSimon, at all levels. Support and thanks for the work you have done and continue to do, for the opinions, especially those I did not share, for the technical side, which I do not favor and therefore consider taxing and invaluable; but also support for any decision you may want to make from now on. I have a good dose of cynicism and I have never thought that eternal things existed. If you want to stop managing the forum, or writing to us, you have the sacrosanct right to do so. The weight of a commitment is judged by the one who faces it, and therefore if you judge this weight too heavy, you have my support in the choice to let it go. It's a shame, obviously, and we will revisit the conversation even in private, but you have the right to decide for yourself :-)

Everything is correct, but I say... if the weather stays clear, 2 commercials won't spoil things... provided that the problem is also economic (since it is mentioned).

Anyway, it seems like a real shame to me; as was said with MicaMahler, this is a 'sunny island.'

I had understood that the site was managed by Simone and Paolo (moderators/helpers aside); from my point of view, the fact that Simone wrote this post directly and autonomously could also hide a problem between the two partners. I say this because in situations like this, if Simone's decision (due to commitments/personal problems or economic problems, all of which are reasonable) had been shared with the other, we might have had an indirect account... that is, it would be the remaining partner telling the story of a painful but shared decision... perhaps even saying a melancholy goodbye to the one leaving.

Something to the contrary can be glimpsed here

www.pianoconcerto.it/forum/index.php?/topic/1563-un-bel-disco-davvero

Maybe I'm lost... but, what is the problem? ... a rude user?

I haven't read all these insults (I am obviously speaking publicly)... maybe privately?

I ask because of adverbs like 'always'

> What have I received? Always insults, threats

They mean precisely... in the last year I haven't read a single one, except for yesterday...

Anyway, if this is already a consolidated and final decision... I am very sorry.

When I was little, my parents taught me that when you go to people's houses, you must behave well and put yourself in a position to be hosted.

Always approach with tact and respect towards those who have welcomed us into their home and towards the other guests (even if there isn't much sympathy for the latter).

This should not make one think that one must always hesitate by not saying what one thinks, but if it must be done, it must be done with tact, putting our friends' feelings in the foreground.

Since the first time I entered this forum, it has always given me the impression of a convivial home where I was welcomed (and it has been the same for everyone else) with great enthusiasm, and I am very sorry about this moment...

I agree, but it is inevitable that I must resign myself to the fact that the internet brings all "distances" closer and burns them away, and music alone is not enough to "win" against education, social background, cultural background, civic background, etc.

I am reasonably certain that in reality one frequents others by "selecting," and after proper evaluation—I know it's bad to say it, but that's how the social world works...

I myself am here because I had the illusion that relying on a management in the human and convivial spirit would benefit culture and the spirit.

I hope I haven't made a mistake.

A warm greeting to everyone and excuse me if I'm a bit late, but it's a very full period...

Dear friends,

September 18, 2012, is the date of the migration of our (deceased) forum www.lvbeethoven-forum.it which in turn migrated from the deceased http://www.forum-lvb...om/Forum//index . Now, since I am no longer willing to undergo any more deaths (because life imposes natural obituaries on me, and I want to avoid virtual ones), my synthesis is this:

1) If the problem is relational, between people who are not known to me, there is nothing I can do and I must accept it.

2) If the problem is economic, it is easily resolved by reaching into one's wallet (long live, we are Genoese, but with a certain availability), or by putting up advertising, or by self-taxing ourselves by making a deposit to a bank account or a postepay etc..... every idea is welcome.

3) IN NO CASE, if this forum closes, will I reopen a new forum, and I announce this in a definitive and irreversible manner. I will remove the link from the site and I will no longer participate in forums after three closures.

4) I thank Simone for the consideration: Simone is truly an excellent person (but also Frank, who brought me here, and Thallo, and Luca and also the logos Daniele and all those whom I do not mention). Simone has always acted with maximum availability and exquisite kindness. However, I am absolutely NOT willing IN ANY CASE to inherit any forum. Managing my small site already takes me a couple of hours a day, for 11 years.

5) If the problem is one of "leaves" [internal politics/discord], Simone will manage his departure or his stay at his own discretion in full freedom. IN NO CASE, if he leaves, I will remain in the forum, while also removing my posts and the link to my site. (non-negotiable decision)

6) In all cases, I will reserve unconditional affection for all of you, who have welcomed me as a friend in what I hope will become a long experience. Two years are many, but I am demonstrating how to survive the sale of an important site like www.lvbeethoven.com and rise stronger than before. A hug to Simone, our "The Simon". You will always have me by your side, in any case!

Your - all your - friend

I am very sorry, Simone. I am sorry that the weight of one of your creations leads you to the desire to abandon it because your expectations were not met, or because things happened that you hadn't foreseen or simply didn't want to happen. Unlike personal Facebook pages, however, a forum "becomes" that of those who write to it, for better or worse, and it is precisely those people, with their different characteristics, who keep it alive. No user joining a forum community thinks they are "entering someone else's house" (to use sisifo1987's words): a forum is a square, and in a square, one meets, chats, discusses, tells someone off (within the permitted limits, obviously), and then remains friends as before. Otherwise, one starts a blog and only discusses with the people they choose; it goes without saying that the moderator (or moderators) in a forum have the power to reprimand and exclude from the forum anyone who does not measure up, for various reasons.

I said above that a forum becomes that of those who write, but the beautiful thing is that it also becomes "who" writes it; that is, the users of a forum are the physiognomy of the forum itself. And, I must tell you, this is without a doubt one of the most interesting, elegant, and cultured forums around (I am speaking about those in the musical field, obviously); and for me, it is quite obvious that the credit lies, above all, with you, and only secondarily with the users who have gradually joined. It is no coincidence that a group of users, well-known around here, migrated en masse from other shores and agreed to settle on the PianoConcerto platform, finding very significant differences between this one and the forum they came from.

Having said all this, I am the last person who will tell you "think again!", because I am convinced that your reasons have been well thought out and, since I have had the chance to get to know you, even if only a little, I know that this is not something you decided lightly. I just wanted to tell you that, in the face of the difficulties and problems (including technical ones) of managing the forum, I personally am very grateful to you for the work you have done, which I have enjoyed greatly: I believe that, while in substance the forum has gradually become a mirror of the users who frequent it—revealing a decidedly positive trend, if I may say so—in form, your imprint was and has been immediately very clear to me, and in this case too, it revealed a "mark" of absolute distinction, for which I thank you.

As a parasite user that I am, I would like to express all my esteem and respect to you, Simone.

I have never participated actively, often withdrawing in the face of excellent discussions and proposals, to which I could not have made a noteworthy contribution.

I want to tell you that I have followed the forum daily, picking up information, tips, and news from the remarkable people who animate it.

I have always felt a twinge of envy for all the energy you pour into the project, always amazed by your vitality, I who am fundamentally a lazy dreamer.

What can I say... I wish you all the best possible in your life.

I think Gorino has embodied the thoughts of many of those who, like me, lurk... but have great benefits, even if sometimes there is debate and different points of view (heaven forbid it weren't so in art, we would be in a regime), through this platform.

A premise regarding one of the assumptions made by Ludovica: everything can be, I am a very mischievous person for whom nothing can be seen, read, and understood for what it is, but even if for a brief evening (during which I was cutting myself with laughter despite psychologically being so-so, and normally I am not doing better) I clearly understood an integral part of Simone's character, and precisely because of this I could and can say that I don't think it is his case, the one in which a person sends word through others or otherwise draws attention to part of the problem, obscuring the side of it that contributed to making this decision, if he has made it (said without euphemisms and "brutally"), is because evidently he is fed up with bestowing openness, availability, and knowledge, being (surely in private) as he says threatened, insulted, etc., for me it's a good thing, even if it had a certain effect on me to read about this situation and decision, to focus on activities that stimulate and gratify him,

As for me, thank you (I was surprised reading my nick), but no matter how much passion I can put into the things I do and talk about, I don't have the consistency, the patience, and the empathy to be able to lead even "just" a section of a forum, precisely because of my lack of consistency and my angry character. Besides this, I would need to be satisfactorily prepared regarding a subject, and this is not possible right now and I don't know if it ever will be; and even if it were, the problem, which Frank knows well enough, is always patience and, above all, consistency, things that are indispensable for the "care" of a daily activity. If you think that you study about ten hours a day and I can't even manage five minutes, one can understand how much openness and energy are poured into everything you do, and conversely, I cannot concentrate on something concrete. As for names, I don't have sympathies for everyone, but I recognize that they know what they are talking about: Frank, Carlos, CromadiBrera, AleGozzo, Abatefaria, Thallo, Ludovica.

Sorry, I didn't mean to "forget" one of the most prepared ones, Geppino. But there are also other people who can lead sections, if I recall correctly (compromised memory): Suonolatromba, Eagle, Sisifo, Natan, holy shit, other names are escaping me, but among those mentioned there are prepared people and others less prepared, people more empathetic than others, and one of the most important aspects is indeed knowing how to relate to others without resorting to civil war.

I repeat, I don't like everyone, and I will certainly get on someone's nerves, but what matters is what one can offer regardless of their character.

Just two words, because I have spoken at length about the subject with Simone. I hope his decision is not final, as it seemed to me from our conversation. In fact, Simone was under a lot of pressure and had to remove some members due to vulgarity and misunderstandings. I too expressed my indignation in one of my posts. I too, perhaps, was not attentive enough to certain discussions. I would be very sorry about his decision (I am only now reading this post of his), both because I would not be able to handle it and because, without taking anything away from the others, I would do nothing but withdraw myself as well. Without him, with whom this project began and with whom I have shared so many beautiful initiatives, I could not continue. It gives me great, great pleasure that many of you have shared his justified discomfort and encouraged him to continue. I hope it is resolved.

I would still like, within the limits of my skills and knowledge, to give much more to the site, to the Forum, and in my life. Let's hope that opportunities and events allow me to do so now.
