hi everyone,

premised that I have a certain predisposition for playing multiple instruments (nothing exceptional, anyway)

i am about to purchase an alto sax (being able to benefit from the 'Carta del docente' incentive). some retailers have unanimously recommended the following model: yamaha yas280

https://m.thomann.de/it/yamaha_yas_280.htm

or, alternatively, the superior model: yas 480

for me, it is a totally new instrument and I am unable to choose between the two. of course, I won't become Bird's heir... however, once basic technique and breathing are learned, I would like to be able to produce a pleasant and gratifying sound

(in the sense that I wouldn't want to purchase a very basic instrument). thinking about a Selmer might be too much (mainly for my wallet) but... I am also thinking about that.

who can give me some indications, please?

thanks

I would say that the mechanics are excellent and the tuning is not bad. The sound won't be the absolute best... but I think it's perfectly fine for practicing.
