Good morning everyone... Recently I happened to visit the conservatory in Palermo and had the opportunity to play many high-end pianos, Steinway grand pianos, old Steinways with ivory keyboards from the early decades of the twentieth century (my mouth was watering), Grotrian Steinweg likewise, also some fairly new Seilers; almost all of them are never maintained except for the grand pianos, however I noticed that they had a very full sound, whereas my 208 cm Schimmel sounds poor compared to all those I played, especially in the mid-high range where the sound gives me the impression of dying out quickly, while the bass is all in all acceptable..
i was wondering if it would be necessary to replace all the strings, they are a bit rusty, and I wanted to know how much it might cost me,
furthermore, I was wondering if there are different qualities of copper-wound strings and harmonic steel strings? Does the cost also vary based on their length? Can potential sound problems depend on the string?
