To use an absolute superlative... Interessantrimo !! I would like to delve a little into music notation software. So far, I have studied music production software extensively. (600 pages in English !! 🥷 ). It's a shame that no one ever wants to volunteer to start courses from the basics to advanced use... They would certainly be very popular.

Clarify this a bit for me.....as it seems to be very useful.

Between the guide and the operating manual, it is almost 1000 pages; you will understand, therefore, that it is impossible to think of organizing a course here. Sibelius was born as professional music notation software, but its applications range from strictly editorial ones to the performance of even very complex scores (being able to host almost any existing sound library and plugin), up to complete interaction with external sequencers (the rewire) function).

It is an extremely complex software that everyone uses for a minimal part of its functions, according to their own needs. I wouldn't know where to begin and it might be simpler, perhaps, to start from what one wishes to do and then explain, eventually, how to do it.

I, personally, use it mainly for writing and audio reproduction (or playback) of scores, doing without a MIDI keyboard and external sequencers.

I would be interested in knowing about writing music with Sibelius. For playback and recording, I use software designed for this purpose.

This is the news: today, Sibelius is designed also for playback. In the dedicated section (I wrote this myself), I have posted a playback obtained exclusively with Sibelius.

As far as writing is concerned, you can do anything: from typographic layout in the smallest detail to the writing of all kinds of symbols (even for direction), to a wide choice of "heads" for the notes... It is a program used by music publishers.

One thing I really like is that at a typographic level you can change the colors of the notes (even individually) without using third-party software. Something typical that happens, for example, with Finale

Excuse my intrusion, perhaps I am past the deadline or even off-topic, but since I have already started... Some time ago, I discovered two music notation software programs, one of which I use assiduously, which I am quite satisfied with and which I would feel comfortable suggesting to anyone, as it is easy to use, lightweight for the PC, also available in an Italian version and, something that doesn't hurt at all, Free!! It is "Musescore", it can be easily found via Google search. Naturally, I am unaware of the level of complexity required by your musical needs, but I believe that knowing one more tool is preferable to the contrary, so I am pointing it out to anyone who might be interested... I repeat again that I am just a self-taught person and therefore perhaps I am venturing into mined territory, giving unsolicited and perhaps annoying suggestions; if that were the case, I apologize, the intention was good.. and if I have done someone a service, I will be happy; otherwise, I will have only lost a few minutes, but I always hope that any attempt to spread knowledge of something useful is never a waste of time. Your last consideration is correct. There are those who are at the beginning and have no need at all for software complexity like Sibelius or Finale, for whom "Musescore" can be more than sufficient. Furthermore, reports are never useless, so thank you for the report

Thank you for considering my suggestion, even though I suspected you already knew "the beast"; I reported it because you can never tell... and also because, as I said, I had already started and I don't like leaving things just as they've begun; Anyway, I realize I have stumbled into a discussion that is beyond my scope, since evidently performances are being evaluated of which I practically know nothing (in fact, practically nothing!), I am slowly closing the crack in the door that I had left ajar to snoop, I slip away quietly, and silently leave you to your deliberations, I want to avoid making a fool of myself...
