Good morning,
let me introduce myself, telling you a bit about myself and how I arrived at this forum, which is truly interesting.
I'll start with some biographical notes
(I hope I don't bore you too much..)
I am 56 years old, father of three children, a physics graduate, and an IT professional by trade.
Ever since I was little I loved music; during that period (around 1970) my parents had purchased
the encyclopedia "History of Music"
by "Fratelli Fabbri Editore", complete with attached records.
Records that make you smile today, but the tracks were chosen intelligently
and thus they made me passionate about classical music.
Around age 12, I expressed the desire to study organ and my parents decided
to enroll me in the Bergamo Conservatory, where I began studying piano.
To tell the truth, the experience was a bit traumatic; I naively expected
to learn without too much effort, I wasn't mature or motivated enough to
handle as many as three lessons per week.
The following year I left the conservatory, but I continued taking lessons from a private teacher, a neighbor.
After a year of using a rented piano, my parents decided to buy a used one (an upright, naturally).
In my first year of high school, I entered the Bergamo seminary because I had decided to become a priest.
There I attended the classical lyceum and in the meantime I had the opportunity to continue
piano studies, in collaboration with the "Santa Cecilia" institute of sacred music.
At the end of high school, I changed my mind and enrolled in the Faculty of Physics in Milan.
After graduation and many years to find the right wife, I got married, and now, as already mentioned,
I have three children, the youngest being 7 years old.
After the marriage, space in the new house wasn't much, and condo life wouldn't allow me
to play freely, so I decided to sell the "real" piano
and buy a digital one. (Gem ps1300)
Well, perhaps it's time to wrap this up.., anyway, we are almost at the present day.
A few years ago we managed to move to a small villa a bit outside Bergamo and the idea of
buying a piano returned to me. However, mortgage expenses and children didn't give me much hope.
Some time ago, however, while browsing some classic second-hand sites out of curiosity, I
came across a piano for sale for 150 Euros, just a few kilometers from my house.
Without too many illusions, I went to see it and it wasn't so bad, so I couldn't resist and I bought it.
The piano is aesthetically nice, it has its years (I don't know how many) and naturally needs a bit of adjustment.
Searching the internet for information on mechanics and tuning, I arrived here,
but I found much more than I was looking for.
But now I won't talk to you about the piano, because this is the introductions section.
Give me a little time to take some photographs and formulate my questions.
