Good morning everyone, I am a very amateur pianist who, however, wants to try to improve. I started getting close to the instrument when I was little, listening to my father play (it was his job but with modern music) and I learned to read music by remembering the melodies he played, then taking the sheet music and trying to understand which notes he had played they corresponded to (one of the first things I learned this way was a Clementi sonatina). Then as a teenager I started traveling a lot and living in strange places, so I abandoned the piano. I managed to buy one at 25, I found a teacher and took a few lessons, then the teacher became my boyfriend and it became impossible to have real lessons (I was too undisciplined); anyway, let's just say that for about three years I played continuously, then another move (the place was too small to fit the piano), a change of boyfriend, and the piano was left behind again. After about 10 years, finally, for about a year now, I have a house and a Yamaha B1 silent and I have been trying to pick it up again since the beginning of the year. After 10 months, some results are starting to be seen and heard. Last year my father's old band decided to start playing again and I sneaked in as a keyboardist for some pieces; we mainly play 70s rock, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep, and clearly the main part with the Hammond is his, but I like the genre very much; I grew up with that and with classical music, and it is very useful for me to challenge myself in that genre as well and with other instruments. Now I have done the opening theme for the concerts, which is Fanfare for the Common Man played by Keith Emerson, whom I love immensely. As far as home practice goes, I am doing Czerny's Op. 299, something by Bach, scales that I had never done, I have taken up two Debussy preludes mainly to get used to reading again, and a bit of Chopin. And with this poem, I greet you all.
