Hello, my name is Pier Luigi Bonucci and I recently joined.
I am not a pianist, I play the guitar as an amateur, but I had a desire to put a piano in the house and learn something; furthermore, I have a passion for woodworking and dreamed of restoring an old piano.
I found an opportunity in Grosseto where I live: a family wanted to get rid of a Wilhelm Spaethe Gera piano built in 1904; I took it after having the mechanics checked, which turned out to be in excellent condition. Now I have a piano with the cabinet to restore; it will be my hobby for the next few months, perhaps I will post some updates on the work in progress.
I like the idea of recovery and reuse; generally, I make small cabinets using boards recovered from pallets, poorly maintained boards that, once planed and sanded, look like new again.
My other passions: sports, scientific outreach, technology.
I am retired after working as an IT professional; after so much "virtual" work, perhaps that is why I now love doing things that can be seen.
