Hello everyone, my name is Francesco, and I am an amateur player. I took lessons for two or three years when I was little, but then I stopped. Anyway, the passion for this instrument remained, and now I would like to start studying it again with some consistency and seriousness. I would like to move from a keyboard to an upright piano, but I realize that I don't know how to choose, and I haven't found anyone who can help me. I have watched your tutorials, and thank you very much, but not having experience, I am still unable to judge. Since I can neither read nor write music, I thought a refurbished Yamaha U1 or U3 with a certificate would be fine, but I would also like to know what you think about a new Kemble, Chopin model, because the shop where I intend to buy it has one right there in a color that would look good in the tavern where I want to put it.

Thank you,

Francesco

Hello and welcome.

Buying a piano is not like walking into a bar and buying a pack of candy. It involves spending a lot of money, and a rip-off could be hiding around the corner. For this reason, I recommend that you choose and pay for a technician who can come with you and evaluate the used instrument you are about to buy. It is better to spend 100 euros more beforehand than to spend thousands of euros later to restore the functionality of an instrument that requires several technical interventions to return to its original working condition.

hi francesco and welcome. I agree with what has been said and I take the liberty of adding that, beyond the color, try them several times and feel the one whose sound feels most like yours and, if you are an adult and work, but still want to get serious about studying, consider purchasing a silent piano. I have the yamaha b1 and I am very happy to be able to study even in the evening

Thank you very much for the advice. I am already looking more closely for a technician to act as my consultant. At the end of the matter, I will let you know. In the meantime, thank you again for your availability.

In agreement with Simone and Paolo. I did the same at the time and it turned out to be an excellent solution.
